When I was on holliday in France, I was astonished by the beauty of many different houses and the materials used. Finally I decided to buy a fermette that was in a bad shape, but not spoiled in the way they got rid of the original details. Speaking the french language I discovered a lot about the house. My neighbour lived in the little village her whole life long and she could tell me a lot about the functions some rooms had.

I learnt a lot about constructions of roofs, pointing, rendering and floors. Especially how they built these houses in the old days. I decided to read lots of books about traditional building in France. My hope is to pass on the knowledge to people who are interested in traditional french buildings and teach these people hands on how to point and restore walls. so the french "patrimoine" will be preserved in the right way.
